Music Monday I

I love music.
It's been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.
And I love finding new artists and tracks to add to my playlist.

If you follow me on Instagram (@heyjessgray) and check my Instastories feed, you'll see me lip-syncing (or actually singing on the more unfortunate days) to some song that has been certified as one of my jams. I try my best to share the song info but I get a lot of messages from you guys asking me to give the scoop on my favorite tunes.

And so...I decided to do a little round-up on the blog on Mondays to share the wonderful gift of music with you. I listen to almost EVERYthing and I'm a mood-inspired listener so you can expect to get a little bit of this and that when you check-in. Let me know which songs you're feeling and drop recommendations in the comments for brownie points from me!

So for this first round of Music Monday, in true Jess fashion, I've been obsessed with love songs (break-up songs NOT excluded). Most of these songs have a "Baby, we need to get it together" theme going on - I have no explanation for this, but that's just been the vibe.  Here's what has been in rotation for the past week or so:

Daniel Caesar ft. Kali Uchis "Get You": I can't get enough of this song. Daniel Caesar's smooth crooning just pulls you right on in. I'm trying to remember the last time I've been in this space with someone but I can say that I'm looking forward to experiencing this feeling again someday.

SZA ft. Travis Scott "Love Galore":  SZA is my homegirl in my head that I could totally share wardrobes with. I've listened to this song on repeat for long periods of time without realizing it because it has this trance-like feel to it that wraps you up in it.

H.E.R. "Focus": This song is a message to an inattentive partner who seems to be taking you for granted and needs to up their game. The harp that loops throughout the song gives it this feeling of urgency while still having a calming effect. Love it.

Sabrina Claudio "Tell Me":  Learning your partner's love language and keeping open, honest communication are important keys to a successful relationship. And Sabrina wants to know what's good with her boo or else she has to move on.

Syd "Insecurities": Sometimes we stick around longer than we should because we don't realize our own worth. Well, this is the anthem for when you figure it out and get the strength and courage to walk away.

Ella Mai "10,000 Hours": You ever been feelin' someone and you know they're feelin' you too and y'all know that you would be great together and now you're over the games and want to get to the love? Yeah. You tryna be my bae or naw?
